Celebrating North Carolina's facial follicles since 2007!

Dig it.

The Backstory

On March 6th, 2007, Andrew Dudek held our first meeting at M'Coul's, an Irish public house in downtown Greensboro. (The initial crew was immortalized in the picture to the right.) For four years, the club met every first Tuesday for a social evening of drinking, eating, and most importantly, bearding.

Female significant others and feminine facial hair aficionados made appearances, as did males clean shorn (by choice or by nature), and soon one of our mottos was born: "Women and less fortunate men, always welcome."

Across those four years we began to have events - we sponsored music shows around several holidays, and had an annual anniversary party in March. Times were good for follicularly fond folk in the Triad region of North Carolina.

In 2010 we joined in the official downtown Greensboro Fourth of July parade - Fun Fourth - handing out fake moustaches to parade-goers and displaying our BMC flag proudly. In fall of 2010 we began cheer- or beard-leading for the Greensboro Roller Derby.

As the club continued to grow, Andrew - who had mostly single-handedly run the club - was wise enough to seek out partners, and delegate responsibilities. He picked a core group of the most regular Tuesday night and event attendees , and after several interest beerings, we formed a board in April 2011.

The Official Beard and Moustache Club, redux

With a board formed and officers elected, we began to make bigger plans. First, our manifesto, and bylaws. Andrew had written a manifesto back in 2007, and we revisited it with an eye towards the future of bearding all across North Carolina. Our reinvigorated, now formal goal - to make Beard = Awesome. (And by Beard, we mean all full and partial facial hair varieties.)

We fashioned a machine with a single purpose that would have many beneficial side effects - benefit our community through fundraising events targeted directly at local charities. Our community benefits, and every dollar raised is another whisker of accomplishment in the BMC beard of acclaim and facial haired success.

In this vein, we created the Official Member. Official Members are committed to helping the Club make our local society better. We pay annual dues, which gives the Club seed money to hold the events that help us make an impact.

Today

We meet for a social pub night once a month at M'Coul's in downtown Greensboro. It is always the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm, upstairs. (In fair weather, always check the upstairs outside deck - if it's nice and we're out, you won't see us from inside.)
